Mary Reimer

Regional Director Manitoba

Mary Reimer is delighted to serve as a Board Member of CFCSD and as Regional Director in Manitoba. Her professional life began with a B.Ed. Followed by 20 years of full and part time teaching, in English and French. During this time she and husband, Gary, raised 3 children. Mary held leadership in Canadian Parents for French, in Victoria BC, and upon return to Winnipeg volunteered at Fort Whyte Nature Centre as a volunteer naturalist.

An invitation to pursue pastoral ministry led to co-pastoring a new church plant for the Canadian Conference of Mennonite Churches. Today, Mary remains an active founding member of Faith Works, now in its 17th year. While pursuing a Masters degree in Spiritual Formation and Leadership, Mary was drawn to the practice of spiritual Direction and completed further studies at Christos Centre, Minneapolis.

With her daughter Heidi, Mary started the business Botanical Paper Works manufacturing hand made, plantable paper. Together, they have published 3 books on hand paper making and bookbinding.

Mary retired as Pastor of Faith Works and currently practices as a Spiritual Director, and along with two colleagues, teaches and provides retreats under the umbrella of Imago Dei Christian Community. She and Gary lead a twice-monthly Imago Dei service for contemplative practice in the life of faith.

Mary finds joy in helping people find God in everyday life, in doing life with two teenage granddaughters, in meaningful connections with family and friends and in promoting spiritual well being in clergy.

“…. we are called out of darkness and into God’s wonderful light.”
